Ground Source heat pumps
Ground source heat pumps offer excellent energy savings as up to 75% energy for heating can be extracted from the ground. Energy from the ground is ‘converted’ into useful energy by the heat pump, which works like a fridge. It uses electricity to run the compressor and controls and it is an excellent partner for underfloor heating, which requires low water temperature to heat the home. Suitable access is required to allow boreholes to be drilled or ground collectors to be installed.
The benefits |
|
| Clean and efficient use of free energy source to provide heating and hot water | Every 1kW used to run the heat pump generates approximately 4kW to heat the home |
| Reduces use of fossil fuels | Low energy bills and reduces CO2 emissions |
